What's New On Ithaca Greece
April 2023
| Saturday 1st - The weather is really fining up now. Deep into all the beautiful colours of Spring.
Monday 3rd - Below - Despite the decay of this building, it is still known as the Stavros Palace.

Tuesday 4th - Forky's Theatre Group has been busy rehearsing and now presenting their new works by Nikolai Gogol, Weddings. CLICK HERE or on photo below for some more pics.
Friday 7th - Mostly sunny today, but that could change over the weekend.
Sunday 9th - We can really feel the build up to Easter now. As everyone elsewhere is celebrating this weekend, we here in Greece, have another week to go. It's not Easter eggs everyone is excited about, but the lamb or pork on the spitroast.
Tuesday 11th - Pretty miserable day yesterday. Rain and mostly grey. Today the sun is shining and the skies are blue. Makes everything feel fine with the world. There's going to be a big influx of people coming to the island tomorrow. Apparently ferry tickets on Patras route have sold out.
Above - Cavos. Signs of Spring are everywhere. Wild flowers throw a colourful and lush blanket over most of the island.
Friday 14th - Weather was gorgeous yesterday, but today we're supposedly in for another bad weather period. While the sun shines....

Saturday 15th - And here we are in the midst of Greek Easter, the biggest celebration on the Greek Events Calendar. Cities will have emptied out as Greeks head to their islands and villages to celebrate this occasion with their family and friends. Ithaca is alive with celebration too. Last night Kioni celebrated Good Friday with a liturgy and of course Judas burning, as he does each year in this bayside village in the north of Ithaca Greece. The forecast was for rain this weekend, but so far it's radically wrong. Luckily for us.
Sunday 16th - Last night we headed to the mountain village of Exoghi for the celebration of the Resurrection. CLICK HERE or on photo below for more pics.

Monday 17th - Yesterday was the big Easter feast day around Greece. A shame it decided to rain. It didn't stop anyone from having a great time, it just meant that Easter went indoors for 2023. For some pics CLICK HERE or on photograph below.

Spring on Ithaki
Saturday 1st
Looks like it will be a busy April with visitors already starting to come around Easter time in a couple of weeks.
Monday 3rd - Below - Kioni.
Friday 7th - Easter will be upon us very soon and as it approaches, so will more and more people come to Ithaca. Easter is HUGE on the Greek Events Calendar.
Sunday 9th - Some crystal clear sea to wet your appetite for the upcoming Summer season.
Above - Afales. When the wind blows it stirs up the sand in Afales Bay.
Tuesday 11th - Cold and rainy yesterday. Winter revisited.
Above - Yachts are already starting to line up around the edges of Vathy Harbour. Soon the Flotillas will be sailing around Ithaca as they tour around the Ionian, mooring at the beaches, north and south, sometimes too close, sometimes staying longer the a wild night at one of the bars.
Friday 14th - Before the rain starts, let's revisit yesterdays' blue skies and Spring flowers. Let's hope the rain stays away for Good Friday celebrations. Judas goes up in flames again this year in Kioni, locals would be very disappointed for it to rain on that parade.
Saturday 15th - Tonight celebrations for The Resurrection will take place across the island, north to south with Ithaki being lit up with candlelight at midnight.
Sunday 16th - Today the island will be celebrating with spit roasts and family for the biggest even on the Greek calendar, Easter Sunday. It's time to feast. Pics will come later.
Monday 17th - There may have been rain and it may have been quite chilly, but there was plenty of Easter Sunday cheer.
