What's New On Ithaca Greece
April 2023
Tuesday 18th - It's been a rainy and grey Easter weekend so far and is supposedly going to continue until Thursday. Hopefully there will be some sunny breaks to guide us through.
Wednesday 19th - The sun and blue skies came back yesterday after a grey and rainy Easter weekend. People at the cafes, in the village squares and generally just out and about.
Friday 21st - Quite a bit quieter from yesterday as many headed back to their mainland homes after the Easter weekend and after some rainy and stormy weather, yesterday the skies were blue again and hopefully that will remain so for a while at least.
Above - Taxiarchis. Below - Cafe Sofia in Anoghi is doing very well, and even though Sofia is missing, Lefteri has taken over and is doing great. If you want to eat there, you'll need to book, but you can turn up for a coffee and snack at any time.
Below - Nostalgic Ithaca from George Florence (youtube -'rainscratch') is rather special. A 2 part look back at Ithaca in 1966 through the eyes of my husbands uncle Panos Vlassopoulos, featuring many of the Vlassopoulos clan, friends and neighbours at the time.
Saturday 22nd - Fantastic weather yesterday. Lots of people out and about, enjoying the sunshine.
Tuesday 25th - Some thunderstorms forecast for today. The island is so green it's hard to imagine it turning brown and dry again over summer. (which btw, is just around the corner)

Saturday 29th - When the forecast predicts wind at this time of year, the sky begins to streak. These are not jet streams. They hang in the sky and expand across it until the blue sky becomes overcast.

Springtime on Ithaki
Tuesday 18th
We didn't have much of a winter, when it WAS winter so the weather is playing 'catchup' and giving us the winter now that we should have had back in January/February..
Wednesday 19th - Still quite a few people on the island after Easter, but chances are many will soon leave to return to the mainland.
Friday 21st - already into the last stretch of April, soon 2023 summer season will be upon us.
Saturday 22nd -
Tuesday 25th - After the Easter influx of visitors, it feels very quiet on Ithaca at the moment.
Saturday 29th - Only another day to May. That's when this year's Summer season will begin to heat up. Package holidayers, flotillas and visitors who want to avoid the heat of the Ithacan mid Summer.
