2023 Easter was a little disappointing with rain hindering spit roasts around the island. Families rushed indoors, some even got up very early to cook the lamb on the spi troast before it was forecast to rain. A grey day for Easter Sunday this year, but that didn't stop locals and visitors from having a great time with lots of food, wine and the company of friends and family.
We started with a quick drive up to Anoghi where Lefteri from the Cafe was putting on his lamb as we arrived, then onto Yefuri in Platrithia, where Roni and Lusi set the tables inside for the big gathering of ex-pats and sundry who were to arrive around 1pm, Lusi at the restaurant, Roni, cooking the lamb in a shed just a little down the road, then on to Kioni to the Ventoura family where Stathi and family had their lamb ready to eat before heading to Raxi, to the Karantzi household where a big gathering huddled around 2 tables for the long awaited Easter feast. Finally we ended up at Yefuri again, to take some pics of those ex pats who were well into having a great time on some local wine, and nowhere near ready to finish off the day.
