A good news story coming from a couple of days ago is that a woman visiting Ithaca had anaphylactic shock after a bee or wasp bite, and our local Stavros doctor, Anastasia Skarmeas, due to her quick and caring actions, revived this woman, getting her back on her feet and healthy for her family. The woman is singing Anastasias praises and happy someone with her caring nature and professonalism is around to look after visitors and locals alike.
June 2014 - Friday 6th - It really started hotting up today. Very warm from early in the morning and the phrase on everyone's lips was 'Now it's summer!'. Endless blue sky and clear waters. Time to head to the beaches, even if the water is a little chilly still, who wants to miss out on a swimming day...no one.

Left - Mayka and Ester strolling around Stavros. Mayka has been coming to ithaca and Greece in general for many years, and Ester of course, is northern Ithaki's walking guide and artist, currently exhibiting her 'back to nature' artwork at her home in Stavros. Villa Z. You can head along there all through June between 5pm and 7pm.
Above - A big bird fell out of the sky. Quite a shock, not just for me, but probably for the bird too before it hit the ground.
Left - The daytrippers are back. Fashion police should just stay home from now until end of September because you just can't put everyone in jail.
Spiros Bouas, a candidate for Mayorship was was won by Dionios Stanitsas is not laying down, he's getting right back up and starting his campaign early with a meeting at the Stavros community hall at 6pm on Saturday evening. If you're a local or expat with an interest in what he and his followers have to offer Ithaca, I suggest you head along. There will be plenty there who speak English and could well be an opportunity to voice your concerns.

The northern island seemed a little quieter than normal with the primary school and parents going on an excursion to Ancient Olympia for the day.
Sunday 8th - Beautiful weather yesterday and will continue today. I believe Summer is REALLY here this time.
All of a sudden, people seem to be everywhere. Last night, even Frikes was buzzing with visitors and yachting crews.

Monday 9th - A wonderfully warm day yesterday had a surprising end when a series of thunderstorms passed over Ithaca. It didn't take long to settle again, but not before dumping quite alot of rain on the island.

Tuesday 10th - Another fine day today. At one point the thermometer read 32C. Swimming time for some.
Lots of butterflies around at the moment. The fields are full of them, but also the streets.
At this time of the year it doesn't hurt to look down and up for some creepy things that make the hairs on our neck stand up for many of us.

Friday 13th - It's really warming up now. A few more people each day coming to enjoy what Ithaca has to offer.

Tonight at Limnes in Platrithia, the kindergarten is putting on a performance. Starts at 6.30pm
