The harborsides are looking like a water wonderland with so many boats achored or sailing in. If you've never been to a Greek island, then pack your bags and get over here to Ithaki. There's a reason we all think it's so very, very special.
On the 10th July, The Martha Graham Dance Company will once again be performing on Ithaki. Keep your eye out for posters around town for details as we near July.
Tonight at 9.30pm at the old Council Building in Vathy, join in on a night of lighting fires and candles to celebrate Ta Lampada. It'll be lots of fun so get along. Starts at the Council building and will continue along to the Marina at Tsirimpi where all the fun really begins. Ideal night for pyros.
Just when you think it's all about the virtual highway, you have to stop the car for a donkey.

The announcement has been made, the Frikes Panighiri (annual street festival celebrating the Apostolon saints) is on this Saturday, the 28th June. It's the time to get off your yachts and out of your holiday rental accommodations to hit the main street of Frikes for dancing, drinking, eating and having a whole lot of BIG fun. If you don't come, the less fun we'll have, so I'll see you all there with your dancing shoes on.
Last year it was held in the Frikes bayside carpark area which I believe will be the venue for this year's festival also, but regardless of where it is in Frikes, you can't miss it.
I'm still getting alot of emails asking about ferry timetables. Please see How To Get There. I try to keep it as up to date as possible. All the ferry companies now have their own websites with timetables so it should be alot easier. Usually there are also telephone numbers which you can ring to book the ferry. Yesterday the 'Meganissi' ferry link was added for those coming from Lefkada during July and August. Their site is in various languages also.
Sunday 29th - Last night the Frikes panighiri kicked off the summer season on Ithaki. Great night had by all. It was the 2nd year the celebration was held in the car park area of Frikes, where's there's so much more space and room for dancing. A well organized event by the local community.
June 2014 - Monday 23rd - Beautiful day yesterday and the same expected for today. There is some much hotter weather in our forecast later in the week, let's hope not too hot. I'd like to make a request for around 28C...I just may get my wish.
Tuesday 24th - Beautiful day yesterday with more to come. It's considerably quieter than other years at this time, but we'll be full before too long, and every now and then a group will come out of nowhere as if by magic, and fill up the village with life.
Wednesday 25th - Quite hot now. Summer has arrived with avengence and the temps are only going up from here on. Almost everything from now on will have to do with the sea. Going for a swim, eating after a swim, napping after a swim, spending long days at the beach, yachts, boats, people, all with one thing on their minds, the sea and it's promise to refresh.
Friday 27th - Last night seemed to be heaving from one end of the island to the other. Lots of yachts, lots of people.
Frikes Panighiri is on tomorrow night, so don't forget it. it'll be alot of fun.

Saturday 28th - big night tonight with the Frikes Panighiri only a few hours away. A wonderfully warm day, so hopefully it will be quite pleasant tonight. The festival will be held in the car park area of Frikes, just past Dodonis Cafe.
