What's New On Ithaca Greece
May 2022
Sunday 1st - After a very busy Easter week, things are settling down again for this first week of May, but as with every year, visitors are coming to enjoy this fantastic time of year.
Below - It's flotilla time again. Soon yachts will be filling our bays.
Monday 2nd - Yesterday some of the locals made the pilgrimage up to Vigla to celebrate the little chapel located there with food and local wine. For more pics CLICK HERE or on photo below.
Above - Ageri Restaurant in Vathy is up and running as is Odysseas Taverna a little further along the bay. The empty strip inbetween will hopefully be filled up soon with the original owners of Rementzo, then under a different name, taking the premises on again now that Poppy and Nek are getting their new project Myrtia up and running. It's not quite finished, but you can already tell it's going to be quite special.
Thursday 5th - After a couple of overcast days, the skies have cleared to more blue skies. Below - Kioni.
Sunday 8th - Already through the first week of May with some lovely weather and the hint of the forthcoming summer season.
Tuesday 10th - Looks like it's going to be a big season this year. I guess with covid restrictions and fear winding down, people are eager to get back to the normal they love by booking their overseas trips. Below - Exoghi wild flowers are always such a joy to see.
Thursday 12th - A bit late posting Ag. Nikola Festival which was held at Mavrona on the 10th, but a cold got in the way. Too much sanitzing and protecting against illness, making even the common cold worse than it should be. Anyway, Ag. Nikola was a little more quiet this year, not as quiet as last year however, because last year it couldn't even happen. It was nice to see familiar faces and sad to see some loved faces missing from our community. For some pics CLICK HERE or on photo below.

Spring on Ithaca Greece
Sunday 1st
Everything is so lush on Ithaca right now, but with hot days coming, the island will soon dry out.
Monday 2nd - Ithacagreece.com is celebrating it's 19th birthday today. I always said I'd stop after 10 years, but here we still are, going strong.
A bit dull and grey the past couple of days. Not cold though, just lack lustre.
Thursday 5th - It's not quite beach weather yet, although some locals swim all through the year, including winter, but as the weather opens up, the beach is a nice place to hang out, even if you're not swimming. Also, fishermen are preparing their boats, as they do every year before calm seas are almost guaranteed.
Sunday 8th - Won't be long before the lush green valleys and hills with all the wonderful wild flowers, become sunburnt under the Ionian Summer Sun. In Summer, the colour will be fulfilled by the assortment of visitors to the island.
Tuesday 10th - Every nook and cranny in Exoghi is blooming with wild flowers. Wild flowers set against the blue of the Spring sky and the Ionian sea just makes for perfection.
Thursday 12th - The deeper we head into Summer, the more thistles emerge from the beds of wild flowers, soon to brown under the Ionian sun.
