What's New On Ithaca Greece
May 2022
Sunday 15th - What a glorious Spring for 2022. I think we all deserve some weather happiness after the 2 years we've had.
Above - Hotel Familia in Vathy, cooking up a traditional storm for it's guests.
Above - Mavrona Bay. Below - Polis Bay.
Tuesday 17th - Although nights are still a little chilly, the days are quite fine as we now head toward June. Below - Thistles and ruins go hand in hand.
Above - This is why sailing around the Ionian is so popular, especially for people who are just starting out or think it's a great idea to spend holiday time on a yacht instead of a hotel. Beautifully blue and calm.
Friday 20th - Warm and Sunny today. All the signs of Summer.
Monday 23rd - Fine and warm with a great Summer ahead. Everyone is hopeful and happiness abounds as the season opens up to more and more visitors coming to our shores.
To live on Ithaca for a couple of decades and still come across scenes never been seen before is just amazing. Light can hide and light can illuminate.
Thursday 26th - It's warming up now and while parts of mainland Greece are already well into the 30's we on Ithaca still have the perfect temps of low to mid 20s. Below - It's that time of year. This isn't Australia so you don't need to worry about dangerous spiders. There's plenty of them in the wooded areas, but none are venomous to humans. If you're going for a walk, take a stick and part the branches.
Saturday 29th - Thunderstorms predicted for today, but right now it's quite warm and sunny.
Tuesday 31st - Beautiful sunny days, lots of sunshine and blue skies. In the north visitors are pretty thin on the ground, but in the south there are a few more in the streets, but still not alot.
Above - While visitors holiday, locals are hard at work through the busy season.

Spring on Ithaca Greece
Sunday 15th
The shepherds are in the fields, the fishermen in their boats and visitors spotted all around the island.
Tuesday 17th - Maybe it's just me, but time seems to be speeding by. Already more than half way through May and heading full steam into June with more and visitors landing on our shores every day. Out in the groves and building sites however, life goes on as usual for shepherds and workmen.
Friday 20th - As we get close to June, the wild flowers become overwhelmed by thistles and drying grass. Spring is a magical time on Ithaca, but all good things must come to an end as they say, but only temporary in this case.
Monday 23rd - Heading into the last week of May and straight into Summer. We're all looking forward to see new and familiar faces. It's always the highlight of the Season.
Thursday 26th - Almost the last of the wild flowers.
Saturday 29th - The island is fairly subdued right now in terms of visitors. Those who are here seem to be quite happy being inconspicuous.
Tuesday 31st -
