The villages and the baysides are quiet now. The island has gone squarely back into the hands of the locals. First comes the olive picking and then it's Christmas and New Year. The time's going to fly. Winter goes by so quickly here.
October 2014 - Sunday 19th - Already into the middle of October. A few locals here and there beginning their olive harvest, still a few yachts coming in and a handful of people walking the streets.
Left - Yesterday the Spavento Twins, Niko and Theofilo celebrated their birthday with another big community birthday bash at the old Kioni School.

Thursday 23rd - Yesterday's blue skies may be the last we see for a few days with the bureau forecasting some heavy weather conditions ahead. Heavy rain and storms started last night with weather warnings for smaller vessels.
Sunday 26th - After quite a miserable weather week, yesterday the sun was shining again, just in time for the official end of the Season.
There really is more going on around the island than on the site this past couple of weeks, like olive picking and such, but I, like others around the island, am hibernating just for a little to gather up strength again after a busy season.
Tuesday 28th - Grey skies again and a big drop in temperature takes us in to the winter ahead, which is forecast to be one of the coldest we've had in a while.
Left - Road works at Aetos. With the road being right on the waterfront, this area seems to suffer alot from erosion
under the road. Better to be safe than sorry. So much heavy traffic, trucks, buses, use this road, it does get alot of wear and tear over a season.
OXI DAY
Today comemorates the 'NO' given by Metaxas to Moussolini back on October 28th 1940. Oxi Day parades around Greece. For more pics CLICK HERE or on photograph Left.
I was a bit ill to attend today, but I sent Demetri along to take some photos.
Thursday 30th - Well, October has gone by so quickly, and with the end of this month, ends the 2014 holiday season on Ithaca.
