On Sunday 12th October there will be a power outage from 7am - 10am, give or take, due to maintenance.
October 2014 - Wednesday 1st - The forecast is for more bad weather on the weekend, but for now it's warm, sunny and blue-skied. Timely too, today is Marida Festival day at Polis Bay. (Sardine Festival) An annual celebration and blessing of the waters and catch. The past 2 years, this celebration has been a wash out, so it was about time the community had the opportunity to enjoy this special day again.

Friday 3rd - It's pretty quiet on the island now, but the past few days have been so perfect, weather wise, you can't help but feel very happy.
Tuesday 7th - I must say that in all the years I have been on Ithaki, I have never personally experienced such relentless storm activity as we have over the past 2 days. The lightning strikes were never ending, going on for hours and hours. Blacker than black skies and wind that not only sent shivers due to the drop in temperature, but from the sheer ferociousness of it.
We should be finished with it today, but the weather chart still shows some acitivity.
Thursday 9th - The sunshine and blue skies are finally back, albeit, the temperatures have dropped now, but not too much.
Saturday 11th - Beautiful days on Ithaca. Quite a relief to get some more sunshine out of this month.
I see that the Kefalonian Lines ferry timetable is only until the 31st of October 2014. This is a big gripe of mine that we are not updated further in advance, so my only suggestion is email the company or call them for dates beyond their timetable, and maybe if you have the courage, verbalize your discontent with their inadequate timetable.
Wednesday 15th - As we begin to prepare ourselves for the winter months, nights out at the cinema will play are more prominent role in our entertainment choices on ithaca. On Saturday a screening of the 'Live' performance of The Marriage of Figaro, as played at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Screening starts at 19.55 hr.
Friday 17th - Strange couple of days, it looks stormy, but it's actually quite mild and almost tropical. Muggy.
Not alot of yachts in Frikes yesterday, although as the day goes on, the bay may have filled a little more. The roads are quiet too. In Frikes village however, it's a bustling hug of activity with building works goin on with the old hotel, which has been looking quite delapidated over the past few years. It will be nice to have this momentus building looking great again. Also Piperato (the once grill place behind Rementzo also seems to be undergoing some works.
Left - Ester van Zuylen is still doing some walks. She's always very informative, so it's not just a physical experience, but also an intellectual one.
Low clouds yesterday, made the views all look quite mystical.
