Changing of the Guard |
|
Summer or Winter, the changing of the Guard at Athens Parliament House, attracts tourists and nationals alike. Young girls vie for a photo with the statue soldiers, getting in a pose or two before an officer frowns and denies them such frivolity. These soldiers are tall, motionless, pom pom shoed guards that have a history as fierce fighters within the Greek army. Each hour, on the hour, a change of the guard ensues to crowds surrounded by pigeons across from Syntagma Square. |
