What's New On Ithaca Greece
June 2024
Saturday 1st - Mild, warm days through May and hopefully June will be the same, although I suspect it will get much warmer from here on. Below - Lefki.
Below - Early evening explorations in Kioni.
Thursday 6th - If these are jet streams in the sky then there are an awful lot of planes flying over Ag. Sarantas all at the same time.
Above - Frikes. Below - Kioni. Things are hotting up, not only with rising temperatures, but also the number of feet landing on our ground.
Above - Margarita Cafe in Stavros.
Saturday 8th - Hot Hot Hot and more heat expected. It does feel too hot for June. The beaches look like it's end of July not the beginning of June. People swimming all over. Below - Agl Nikolas chapel on Mavrona Beach.
Below - Frikes swimming hole.
Below - Ag. Sarantas (40 Saints) That's alot of protection for a little village.
Below - Kanenas Garden Restaurant. What a beautiful job they've done creating such an oasis in the back of Stavros.
Above - Karamela Cafe Bar. Along the strip of road where all the yachts moor up in Vathy. Below - The electric bike craze has also hit Ithaca. Luckily with the bike you can still pedal if you run out of current.
Below - South Ithaca's most popular beach, Filiatro. Here you get parking, a Cafe Bar, Restaurant, beach seating, umbrellas AND a WC, not just a shack with the WC sign, but an actual plumbed in, water running amenity that potentially stops people from peeing in the sea (probably not).
Friday 14th - Below - Frikes is in the north of Ithaca, still one of the more traditional seaside villages on Ithaca. Sometimes the village is sleepy, sometimes buzzing with people. Over the years, Frikes has become a sought after place to eat with all the restaurants providing excellent quality and service. No matter which one takes your fancy, you'll be happy with the choice you made.

Summer on Ithaca Greece
Saturday 1st
When you think of pets, you don't usually think of goats, but this little one was saved by a Lahos couple and nurtured back to health.
Thursday 6th
Saturday 8th - So the word on street is that a cantina is on the cards for Mavrona Beach. I have nothing against cantinas, the one in Kioni is magnificent as is the one on Filiatro beach outside of Vathy, Marmakas too, really great, BUT do we have to commercialize every natural space? Where would it go? Inside the grounds of Ag. Nikolas church??? The road down to the beach is so narrow and in desperate need of some love. I can only imagine the ruin alot of traffic would cause to this area. Hopefully it's just another washed out dream someone with a hole in their pocket had.
Friday 14th -
