What's New On Ithaca Greece
June 2023
Monday 19th - The rain has gone and it's blue skies and sunshine again. As the week goes on the temps will also be climbing into the high 20's. Below - Hanging around Frikes in the north of ithaca on a Sunday.
Tuesday 20th - A warm and sunny 27C yesterday with temps supposedly going up as the week progresses. Below - The road to Loutsa beach is one of my favourites with tall pines lining the side of the road, giving shade and shape to the coast.
Above - Vathy. Yachts dotted in the harbour on a blue sky day.
Wednesday 21st - Fantastic Summer weather this week. Blue skies, warm days, cooler nights. Just perfect. Below - Kanelata area outside Vathy toward Sarakiniko and Filiatro beaches.
Above - Platrithia toward Afales.
Thursday 22nd - Another gorgeous blue sky day when temps will be in the high 20's. Time for everyone to head to the beach. It's still pretty quiet except for the flotillas and the bus tours coming through throughout the day. Of course Vathy and Kioni already feel very busy, but the other villages can still be quite sleepy escpecially during siesta time.

Friday 23rd - Another Summer's day with nothing but blue skies. Below - Nostos Hotel in Frikes. A holiday accommodation tradition for decades.
Sunday 25th - Nearly the end of another month and what a hot one it was, well at least after the rains earlier in the month. Thunderstorms are forecast for later today or in the early hours of the morning.
Tuesday 27th - As we get closer to July, more and more people are coming to Ithaca. Soon we'll forget all about the off season as we enjoy the height of Summer in Greece.

Friday 30th - Goodbye June and tomorrow, hello to July. Below - Veggies in Vathy.

Summertime on Ithaki
Monday 19th
It's Summer again, after a week of cloudy and rainy skies.
Tuesday 20th - While the northern villages are still fairly quiet for this time of the year, the south is building a buzz. Below - Laki from Kohili Restaurant. New interior space, terrace garden and of course along the bayside.
Wednesday 21st - The Spring wild flowers have wilted and died and the valleys and hills are showing signs of the Summer ahead with sunburnt grass and thistles.
Above - Vathy's Venetian Bell tower.
Above - Bust of Homer in Vathy Square. Below - So far only Vathy has this facility for yachts.
Thursday 22nd - It seems Wednesday and Thursdays seem to be the busiest Flotilla days in Frikes, but that will change as we get deeper into the Summer Season.
Friday 23rd - As we get further into Summer, there are more things happening for you to get along to like the book launch this afternoon and the Art Show in Kioni in July. Keep an eye out.
Sunday 25th - Below - Dimitri and Kosta from Avra Restaurant in Kioni. Keeping up a long history of running a restaurant the family business. It was there long before I arrived on the Kioni shores back in 1983.
Below - This WAS the little garden area just on the edge of Kioni where you could sit on a bench under a cool tree. There must be a good reason for them to eradicate it. At least I hope so.
Above - Krouvoulia No. 2 beach outside of Frikes.
Tuesday 27th - I hope it's not just me that feels time is flying by. Already edging the end of another month. It's been a rainy one and a hot one. I wonder what July will have in store.
