What's New On Ithaca Greece
October 2022
Saturday 1st - Kalo Mina to everyone. After a week of 3 seasons in one day kind of weather, it looks like it might continue this way for a little while. Soon Ithaca will be lush and green again from north to south of the island.
Monday 3rd - Unfortunately I missed Marida Festival, but by all accounts it was a lovely day with 'live' music and of course all the great food, company and dancing.
Above and Below - Paving of the road from Lahos to Afales has given a whole other view to the landscapes of Ithaki.
Wednesday 5th - Autumn is here and the light has changed to lead us into Winter.
Saturday 8th - Some ugly weather mixed with warming sunshine for this first week of October. Let's share the sunshine. Below - Afales views.
Monday 10th - For now there are still yachts in the harbours, but that will end soon when the Flotilla yachting season ends around mid October. Below - Vathy.

Tuesday 11th - Yesterday afternoon the retired footballers of Ithaca, both from Odysseas and Proodos teams played against retired footballers from around Greece, Ethniki. A friendly match to raise funds for the Social Grocery Store and in memory of the beloved Dionysios Galatis who passed away recently. Unfortunately Ethniki thrashed Ithaca with 4 - 1, but no one was injured or needed resuscitating (joke) so they live to play another day with hopefully better scoring ahead. Thursday 13th - Increasing cloud today with rain expected tomorrow. Cloudier skies, shorter days, cooler nights...Autumn. It's nearly time for the olive harvest, soon locals will be out in their groves getting ready for it.

Autumn on Ithaca Greece
Saturday 1st
Maybe due to the forecast bad weather here and there that Vathy Bay especially, looked like peak season for yachters. Not only achored in and around the bay, but side to side all around the bayside too. Despite the rain and stormy skies, the temperature has been quite mild, sitting around the mid 20's mark during the day and low 20's to high teens at night.
Monday 3rd - On Ithaca seeing Rollers and sheep together isn't unusual.
Wednesday 5th - Autumn is a good time to get into the nature of Ithaca. Trees and foliage beginning to change colours make the island look so different to the sunburnt Summertime.
Saturday 8th - Afales isn't for everyone, those who like their beaches to be a little wild, not talking high waves kind of wild, but wild and rugged in landscape, love Afales.
In local news, roads that needed fixing in Vathy have now been completed. The retarring local roads in the villages will begin next week.
Monday 10th - Below Vathy Ithaki.
Tuesday 11th - Below - Frikes.
Thursday 13th - It may well be the last of the yachts.
