What's New On Ithaca Greece
November 2022
Friday 18th - One of the wonderful things about colder weather is that the views become crisper and clearer than on any Summer day.
Sunday 20th - Wishing everyone a happy Sunday. Here are some Ithaki views. Below - There's so much history to be found in a traditional cemetry. Ag. Barbara, located above Stavros, is one such cemetry.
Tuesday 22nd - Vathy ...and then there was rain.
Thursday 24th - As we head into the last week of November, Winter is beginning to show itself. Rain, storms with occasional sunshine. Some locals have taken off for their winter season on the mainland and others have taken the opportunity after a business season, to take off for their annual holidays.
Saturday 26th - Although it was pretty miserable weather yesterday, we have to remember that one day does not follow on from the next when living in the bubble that is Ithaki.
Monday 28th - It's good to see the Vathy cinema open again, starting with this past weekend. Giving the locals something to look forward to as the weather and winter hibernation begins to close in on us. One thing we all appreciate at this time of year is sunrise and the clarity of views around the island and beyond.
Wednesday 30th - Goodbye November. It's been nice, but it's time to move on. Below - Frikes in the Winter. Restaurants closed down and the yachters back at their office jobs.

Winter on Ithaca Greece
Friday 18th
Lots of fires burning around the island now that olive harvest is on and all those branches and leaves need burning off.
Sunday 20th - After some usual late Autumn temps, the numbers have gone over the 20s again this past week. Indian Summer.
Thursday 24th - Rainy days.
Saturday 26th - Just a couple more days and we'll be into the last month of 2022. Slightly better finish than 2021 and 2020, but hope for a brilliant 2023. A nice day at Polis bay.
Monday 28th - The start of another week as we nudge against December. The light has been amazing with storms passing over us, then rainy days and often sunshine sneaking through the clouds. The temperatures have dropped dramatically now and Ithaca is not oblvious to the energy crisis gripping the rest of the world. It could be a hard winter for us all if energy prices continue to rise, leaving many without the opportunity to heat their homes. With Greece's almost non-existent welfare program, many will be suffering.
Last winter I noticed some people driving to a sunny area and then sitting in their cars to heat themselves. Profits vs people.
Wednesday 30th - Sometimes the skies are grey and sometimes they are so blue.
