What's New On Ithaca Greece
March 2022
Tuesday 1st - The weather's fine, the sky is blue, the sun is out and moods are high and positive with Spring in the air...and on the ground and trees!
Above - Stavros's corner store, packed with everything you can think of or probably need. Below - The Stavros kios has re-opened under new management. It's such a benefit to the village to have this. It actually brings some life to the square.
Thursday 3rd - A bit of rain, a bit of shine. It's Spring and that's how it goes. Rainbows can make up for the wet though.
Saturday 5th - First week of March nearly done. It will be Summer soon. No Carnival this year, but I'm sure for Kathara Deftera (Clean Monday) people will be out flying kites and having family picnics.

Monday 7th - HAPPY KATHARA DEFTERA (CLEAN MONDDAY) There may be some sneaky celebrations going on, kite flying if the wind is up and family picnics around the island, but with restrictions still in force and Omicron taking over the island, you'll just have to image the smiles and joy of the day. Don't want to get anyone in any trouble.

Wednesday 9th - More rain today, but that too will pass...right?
Friday 11th - Unusually low temperatures these past couple of days, there have been snowfalls on the mainland, but here, it's been mainly very cold and wet.
Monday 14th - In a couple of days the Patras ferry connection will resume. This will make it alot easier to get on and off the island. We miss it when it's not there. Luckily we always have the Astakos connection. So the sun shines again, then it doesn't, then it does.

Springtime on Ithaca Greece
Tuesday 1st
Goodbye February, Hello March and all the wonderful signs of impending full blown Spring. The fine and mild conditions have finally edged people out and about again after a rather hybernatory winter.
Thursday 3rd - The island hasn't escaped the omicron variant, vaccinated and unvaccinated alike, but we're all here and waiting for summer to welcome everyone back!
Saturday 5th - Below - Odysseas bust in the Stavros park, across the road from the Sortiros church.
Tuesday 7th - A mixed weather bag today, some sun, some rain. Hope the rain holds off long enough for Kathara Deftera's celebrations.
Wednesday 9th - Below - Along the road to Minimata.
Friday 11th - More cold weather and rain forecast for today, but also patches of sunshine throughout the day.
Monday 14th - Just a little over a month away, Greece will celebrate it's biggest day on the Greek calendar, Easter Sunday. No idea yet what that will look like in regard to restrictions. While the rest of the world is dropping them, Greece is holding onto them with dear life.
