What's New On Ithaca Greece
October 2020
Thursday 1st
Below - On the edge of Afales.
Kalo Mina to everyone. Let's hope we start on the road to normality, although I expect that may be still a long way off going by the waves of covid as opposed to the waves of the Ionian.Below - A birdseye view of Lahos. The village that first introduced me to the quality of the Ithacan lifestyle. A great village to settle in. Close to everything, but not in the middle of any of the mayhem of Summer.
Thursday 8th - An eeri sky over Vathy. The season changes after a traumatic and dramatic 2020 so far.
Above - Works to repair the road at Aetos are under way. Significant damage was done around this section of road.
Saturday 10th - It's starting to feel a bit wintery now. Gloomy skies and dramatic seas.
Above - Frikes looking almost normal from here.
Tuesday 13th - It's raining alot today, but before the rain, there was sunshine.
Above - Another big storm passed over Ithaca last night, leaving us with a grey and rainy day today.
Saturday 17th - One day Ithaca, the next day perfect.
Sunday 18th - A bit of everything weather-wise, but when the sky turns blue and the sun shines, there's nothing better on Ithaca, and despite all the hardships, it warms all our hearts to live in our little corner of the world. Below - Some views from around Stavros, Ithaki's northern center.
Wednesday 21st - Another month nearly over. I don't know about you, but despite everything, this year seems to be flying by. Below - A look back at the Kefalonia strait on this day in October 2017.

Autumn on Ithaca Greece
Thursday 1st
Ianos did some major damage to Ithaca, but due to the resilience of the local community, those who could, opened up their businesses to finish off the season on a better note than Ianos and covid19. Please still donate to the villages most in need. The main road into Vathy from Aetos will start to get fixed from the 3rd October and don't forget that the bay road from Spavento to Lodza in Kioni is also in disrepair and impassable for now. Anything you can do to help will be much appreciated by the locals and the municipality of Ithaca.
Thursday 8th - Still signs of Ianos Medicane around the island. Many boats were sunk by it and some remain under water.
