What's New On Ithaca Greece
February 2019
Monday 18th - Yesterday this year's carnival celebrations began with some fun in the Vathy village square.
Tuesday 19th - We're truly blessed these past couple of days with wonderful weather. Sunny, blue skied days.
Saturday 23rd - We're running through February and thus far it's been a very mild one, but don't put away the scarves and hats just yet, we're expecting another icy cold front this weekend. There may even be more snow in the low-lands.

Monday 26th - Brrr.
Wednesday 27th - While northern Europe and the UK have been enjoying mediterranean weather, we've been getting their chill. Things are very upside down. Still, Spring is just around the corner and we'll soon have blue skies and wild flowers at our feet. Next Thursday is Tsiknopempti and then Forkis Carnival Party on Saturday. Pre Easter celebrations are starting in ernest now.

Saturday 23rdd - Forkis Theatre Group and the ithacan Cinema society
present Aristophanes. Women at the Ecclesia, Greek Ekklēsiazousai, drama by Aristophanes, originally performed about 392 BCE. The play talks about the takeover by the women of Athens of the Ecclesia, the Athenian democratic assembly. They carry out this mission dressed as men, and, once they have achieved their goal, they introduce a communistic system of wealth, sex, and property.
