What's New On Ithaca Greece
January 2024
Monday 1st - Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year with health and happiness.
It's been pretty quiet on Ithaca. Many have left for their annual holidays and many of the elderly are on the mainland where winter is a little easier to cope with. Soon it will be back to normal as we head forward through 2024.
Wednesday 3rd - It's a quiet time on Ithaca. On clear days the views are amazing on cloudy days the skies can be dull or very dramatic.

Saturday 6th - We've had unusually high temperatures for this time of year. Indian Summertime.
Above - Kioni. Below - Aetos.
Sunday 7th - A windy day for yesterday's Epiphany, but the temperatures are still very mild. Not a lot of people on the island so it's no wonder that the attendance was down this year. CLICK HERE or on photograph below for more pics of Epiphany on ithaca greece.
Last night the annual cutting of the New Years Pita took place in the Cultural center with a better than usual turn out. Alot of fanfare this year with music and speeches too. CLICK HERE or on photograph below for more pics.
Monday 8th - Partially cloudy day today with some disruption due to rain. The temperatures are still very high comparatively.
Tuesday 9th - Wintery skies and a drop in temperature makes for a regular winter's day on ithaca greece. There may be some rain today, but the afternoon is forecast for sunny skies with a top of 14C.
Thursday 11th - It's cold. It's finally winter.
Saturday 13th - While the sun shines, get outside. There's rain on the horizon and it is finally winter now with that comforting chill we expect for this time of year. The chill that sends you inside for an open fire or central heating.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Monday 1st
New Year's Eve has had the tradition in Kioni with a party at Spavento Cafe Bar, but for the first time in decades, Spavento is closed for New Year's Eve with Jennie and Giorgos heading off the island for a little trip for themselves.
Wednesday 3rd - We hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday period. It's a time for reflecting and often deflecting.
Above - Frikes is almost unrecognizable during the winter months. From the colourful hustle of Summer to empty streets and paving.
Below - View to Exoghi from Pernarakia.
Saturday 6th - No resolutions this year other than health and the pursuit of happiness. Our views on Ithaca, help this particular pursuit.
Sunday 7th - So many people have taken time off the island over the Christmas/ New Year period, but next week it will be work as usual, so we may see a few more feet on the ground again.
Monday 8th - Even after 22 years, ithaca still inspires and motivates and the ever changing light let's you discover new images in the landscape.
Tuesday 9th - already into the 2nd week of January.
Above - Ag. Barbara church and cemetry. Although it may seem a little dark to be at a cemetry, it's actually a lovely place to visit, not only for it's history, but also for the views over northern Ithaca.
Thursday 11th - Not much to tell. It's a quiet time on Ithaca. People are either away on the Mainland or hibernating over the winter. Either way, it leads to quiet streets.
