What's New On Ithaca Greece
April 2024
Tuesday 16th - Greek Easter is coming late this year, but Summer has come very, very early this year. Unusually high temperatures.
Saturday 20th - The weather is pretty horrible right now, but before it turned, it was beautifully sunny.
Sunday 21st - A couple of days ago the skies turned black and we all thought that would be how the week panned out, but surprisingly, the very next day, there were clear blue skies to greet us.
Tuesday 23rd - A bit overcast today, but temperatures are very mild. More people coming to Ithaca every day and they get to enjoy these amazing views.
Wednesday 24th - More thunderstorms on our horizon, but that's Spring for you. One minute sunny the next raining. Looking a bit grim until the weekend and then back to a little more sunshine.
Saturday 27th - Raxi is often a village that you just pass through either on your way to Kioni or on your way out of Kioni, but if you stop at the little cafe and take a little walk around, you'll soon see that the traditional village of Raxi has alot to offer.
Sunday 28th - Last night in Stavros, the village buzzed with activity for Delicous Restaurant's music night. Locals and visitors came to Stavros from Vathy to Kioni and everywhere inbetween for some fun, food and entertainment. CLICK HERE or on photograph below for more pics.
Below - Coming back from Athens yesterday the ferry was full of Ithacans. I've never seen this many Ithacans on the boat after all the Kefalonians had disembarked. Not just those who spend winters on the Mainland, but many, many locals who live on the island all year around. Others on the ferry noticed the same thing. Locals making their last escape before Easter and then the Season beginning in ernest.

Spring on Ithaca Greece
Tuesday 16th
With Greek Easter just a couple of weeks away, more and more people are coming to Ithaca. Yachts started back at the beginning of April when flotilla companies begin their tours.
Above - Now is that Kostas from the now defunkt Avra Restaurant in Kioni, serving at Stavros' popular Delicious Restaurant?? Guess you'll have to see for yourselves next time you are at Delicious.
Saturday 20th
Sunday 21st - It's a great time to be on Ithaca. With Greek Easter being quite late this year, it feels like the Summer season will start straight after.
Many find it hard to believe just how green Ithaca is during the off season months. All the hillsides and valleys are lush with growth and now that it's spring, those mountains and valleys are full of wild flowers too. Just beautiful.
Tuesday 23rd - Already into the last week of April and with Greek Easter just around the corner, the island is already beginning to feel quite festive.
Wednesday 24th - Take cover. Rain today.
Saturday 27th - Now we are nudging toward the end of April, the big week of Greek Easter begins.
Sunday 29th - Below Kosta, formerly part owner of Avra Restaurant in Kioni which closed it's doors after last season, now working at Delicious Restaurant in Stavros. If there's music, there'll be Kosta dancing. An age long habit.

Above - A shame this old building in Frikes is left to deteriorate. Once it worked as the popular Symposium Restaurant, the Ianos storm happened and left it in an unsafe state.
