What's New On Ithaca Greece
September 2021
Wednesday 1st
It's back to being 'some days are busy, some are not so busy' time. The weather is a little strange again this year, but it's been mostly fine and hot. Below - Vathy Bay.
Below - An early morning in Vathy.
Above - Krouvoulia 2 beach before people wake up to another Summer's day.
Above - It's not unusual that people have a quick dip or dive off Frikes port. Below - Avra Taverna in Kioni.
Above - As Summer goes on, some areas around the island dry out and become sunburnt. Below - Most of Ithaca is still very green.
Above - Lizzy's has been open as usual after last year's absence due to covid restrictions.
Thursday 2nd - Last night was the premier of Favsta put on by Forkys Theatre Group down at the Oikotrofeio in Vathy (outdoor). It continues through to the 3rd, so get along and support local theatre. It's free. Click Here or on photo below for some images of the Premier night.
Below - Some of the older buildings in Kioni along the old road. Much of Kioni was devastated after the 1953 earthquake, but some relics do remain.
Above - Sometimes the light is just so magnificent it doesn't matter what's beneath it. Light can make it magical.
Saturday 4th - Some crisp views the past couple of days with a clearing breeze moving away from that humidity we've had for a few weeks.
Monday 6th - The weather report forecast some rainy and stormy weather yesterday, but it didn't eventuate when expected. Below - Raxi

Tuesday 7th - The bad weather forecast didn't eventuate. Blue skies and wind, but not rain.
Above - The 'wilds' of Ithaca. Piso Aetos, where no visitor treads.
Thursday 9th - Happily there are still visitors coming to Ithaca. We're all hoping business keeps going for awhile yet as we have a whole winter to get through without much business at all. Your visits keep this island going and we don't underestimate your importance.

Vacation on Ithaca Greece
Wednesday 1st
As long as there are yachts and boats in the harbour, Ithaca remains in Summer mode.
Above - Deliscious in Stavros has become a favourite for locals and visitors alike.
'Favsta' is a peculiar play of modern Greek drama. The writer has been inspired by a sketch, in which a shark, ate a child who was swimming. This is the core of 'Favsta'.
Presented by Forkis Theatre Group on 1,2 and 3rd September. Free Entry. Starts 9pm at the Oikotrofeio in Vathy.
Playwright: Bost (Mentis Bostantzoglou)
Director: Periklis Vasilopoulos
Thursday 2nd - Don't forget Favsta continues through until the 3rd of September. Get along and support our local theatre group, Forkys.
Saturday 4th - Almost through the first week of September and the weather, like a flicking a switch has moved from Summer to Autumn.
Monday 6th -
Tuesday 7th - Another week gone. It looks like a difficult winter ahead, going by all the media reports of those who are not vaccinated being excluded from almost every facet of life. No exemptions, no excuses. Mandated discrimination at worst and segregation at best. Seems unbelievable from the country where democracy rose. For now though, it still feels like Summer so let's make hay while the sun shines.
Thursday 9th - Below - A Kioni dusk.
