Friday 1st
Kalo Mina everyone! Autumn on Ithaca is the beginning of the olive season, where locals get themselves ready for another harvest. Thoughts turn from holiday mode back into the every day mode, but there's still some holidaying to be had as visitors continue to come even through this month.
Above - Margarita Cafe in Stavros. Below - Yesterday we said goodbye to Rementzo restaurant as we all know and love it. Here are just some of the great people who have worked in and out of the kitchen over the years. There are some great stories among them over the nearly 20 years that Poppy and Nek ran their successful version of Greek kitchen on the bayside of Frikes. We will miss them here, but their new project, Myrto, under construction as I type, will see them venture to Filitou for some exciting new undertaking. Good luck guys!
Wednesday 6th - Some rainy weather heading our way, but before it comes we still have some lovely warmth during the day.

Below - Nektarios and Poppy said goodbye to the Frikes bayside on Thursday 30th September with a 'fill in a word here which is legally allowed' in which they showed their appreciation to their friends and patrons who have supported and enjoyed the food from Spring 2002 until September 30th 2021. A breath away from 2 decades. I know that people all over the world would have loved to be part of this occasion, but in their absence, I hope this will give some pleasure and comfort. Sunday 10th - After some pretty bad weather, it's not so bad now and temps still quite mild.
Monday 11th - Yesterday the skies turned black, but before that, we enjoyed temperate conditions.
Tuesday 12th - It's been pouring, storming, clearing up only to cloud up again. Some very changeable weather this past week, maybe a little more than visitors to Ithaca bargained for.

Thursday 14th - It's the rainiest October I've seen in some time and spurts of blue sky do little to warn us of the downpours.
Sunday 17th - Mid October there are still yachts sailing in, but people on the ground are thinning quite alot now.
Some bad weather has also ravaged, especially the south of the island over the past couple of days with heavy rainfalls causing widespread flooding in Vathy. Many ground floor businesses and homes flooded with mud and water. A real tragedy. Last year in September it was the cyclone Ianos that caused widespread damage in the north island, this year the south.

Friday 1st
The weather has been fantastic. Great tempertures. Warm through the day, cooler at night.

Wednesday 6th - The Stavros playground still has some big trees to cast shade on a hot day.
Above - It may be goodbye to the bayside of Frikes for Poppy and Nek, but they have something fantastic in store for next Spring, Myrtia in Filitou (that's on the road to Homer's School). A culinary adventure planned for anyone who wants to experience the joy of traditional Greek dishes. Stay tuned.
Sunday 10th - Surprisingly, there are still people coming to the island and of course yachters will be coming in and going out through October.
Monday 11th - Shame for those visitors who came to Ithaca over the weekend with some rainy and stormy weather welcoming them.
Tuesday 12th - The weather should clear up again soon. We always have an Indian Summer around Christmas.
Thursday 14th - Rain Rain go away come again in an...hour.
Saturday 16th - Unrelenting rain for around 3 days has caused havoc around the island. The worst hit has been Vathy.
