What's New On Ithaca Greece
September 2020
Tuesday 1st
We have some hot weather ahead of us this week. A good start to September. Below - Exoghi, the mountain village in the north of Ithaca.
Saturday 5th - So far it's looking like the quietest September since I've known it. Of course those who are here, are enjoying the island in its stripped down version of Summer, but businesses will be doing it hard.
Tuesday 8th - It's been a hot day again today, but with fresher nights, it makes it pleasant.
Thursday 10th - If you're on Ithaca now, you're seeing it at the best time. Not too many people, just enough to keep it interesting, great weather, fresh nights. Perfect.
Sunday 13th - Fine weather continues. Feels close to perfect on Ithaca right now.
Monday 14th - Below - Kathisma over Afales Bay.
Above - Kolieri in the North of Ithaca.
Tuesday 21st - By now many of you have heard of the horrific hurricane/cyclone Ithaca experienced last week, devastating Frikes and Kioni severely and other parts of Ithaca also. If you want to see some of the damage you can see it on ithacagreece FB (see the side panel at the top or see on fb. There are many images and videos of this horrible day, so there's no need to post them here too, but if you want to donate to help Frikes and Kioni in particular then you can do so here for Frikes:

Summer on Ithaca Greece
Tuesday 1st
There has been a significant drop in number for the start of September. It's not a bad thing. August was about as hectic as it could get.
Above - Kioni.
Saturday 15th
Tuesday 8th - Below - Afternoon light in Exoghi.
Thursday 10th - September is speeding by. This year has been a blur for most of us.
Sunday 13th
Monday 14th - Already half way through September. Considering we've all been so restricted, this year seems to have flown by.
Tuesday 21st - The usually blue Ionian turned into a churning muddy whirlpool of angry wash sweeping forcibly onto the baysides of Ithaca. What we expect from the Ionian can be seen below. The freakish weather phenomenon is NOT what we're used to.
On behalf of Ithaca, thank you all for your well wishes and concern for the island and our welfare. There was no loss of life or injury, but some property was so irreparably damaged and lively hoods lost that it will be a journey back to normality. If covid disruption wasn't enough.
I know many of you feel as we all do about the island. We have this love affair with Ithaca that makes our hearts bleed when something like this shakes us out of our bliss and into some other worldly reality that we have never been accustomed to.
If you are able, please donate to Frikes and Kioni, they were hit very, very hard with unspeakable damage to the villages.
