What's New On Ithaca Greece
August 2020
Saturday 1st
It's definitely looking a little more like Summer on Ithaca and even if all the festivals have been cancelled, there's still some social enjoyment to be had. Good news too that despite the cases of covid19 spiking as expected,, that the death rate is coming down in most countries. Let's enjoy the the Ithacan Summer while we can.

Sunday 2nd - The heatwave should end sometime today, not by much, but our sea breezes always ease the heat of the day.
Wednesday 5th - August is starting to rev up. Restaurants are starting to look quite a bit fuller as are the bays, with yachts sailing in.
Above - Lefki.
Friday 7th - Wednesday night we had a huge electrical storm approach Ithaca, but in the north of the island we saw it lighting up the sky, but nothing bad eventuated from it.

Monday 10th - The past few days, the weather has been very pleasant. Not too hot, not too cool. The thunderstorm a few days ago, left us with a well deserved freshness.

When putting petrol into your rib, it may be an idea to move away from the restaurants at lunch time, and fill up the tank a little further out. One petrol cannister stinks and pollutes the entire bayfront.

Not a covid Summer on Ithaca Greece
Saturday 1st
It's hot. It's Summer. It's Ithaca Greece.
Sunday 2nd
Wednesday 5th
Friday 7th - Yesterday, you'd never know there was lighting in the skies. They were blue and clear just like we expect them to be at this time of the year.
Monday 10th - The island is looking quite alot busier. Not everyone is doing well though, infact I imagine it's very hard for some. Maybe the government should match the immense sacrifices of it's population by not making people pay tax considering very few are earning anything right now, and especially if there's another lockdown.
Tuesday 11th - Although there are quite some people on the island, the usual sounds of joy and laughter have been somewhat subdued under the covid cloud. The joyfulness of being on holiday is trapped under the surface, almost as if it's too risky to let it out.
Above - Even this year, Stavros in the north of Ithaca island, has managed to create another long traffic jam. Yes, that's a clear sign of August.
