What's New On Ithaca Greece
July 2018
Tuesday 3rd - After a shaky start with record rainfall and storms, Summer is well and truly here this week. Blue skies, sunshine and warm seas. That's it now until at least the end of September, but usually also well into October.

Above - During the last storm, a record number of yachts came into Vathy harbour to shelter from it.

Stormy weather always gives us some dramatic skies to admire, but I think everyone is quite finished with that. Bring on a long hot Summer!

Below - Piso Aetos. Ithaki's port is still in shambles but somehow we make it work. Let's hope we can also make it work with the increased traffic of Summer.
I've been in Athens for a week, incase you were wondering why the updates have not been so regular, and on returning, a couple took one look at the port and turned around to go back to Kefalonia. Well, let me tell you if you're coming to Ithaki, yes, be prepared that the port is nothing special, but the island definitely is. It's no risk seeing through Piso Aetos, you won't be disappointed with the rest of Ithaca.
Wednesday 4th - Below - I was away for this but thanks to Demetri Vlass I'm able to share some photographs with you of the celebration at Mouxla. Click here or on photograph below for more pics.
Thursday 5th - Buses bring in lots and lots of visitors. Sometimes here just long enough for a few quick photos and sometimes for something more substanitial - a tour of the island with a lunch break if they're very lucky.

Saturday 7th - We have busy days and we have quiet days, but every day is warm and sunny from now on.
Monday 9th - We're all with mouths agape at the very VERY unusual weather. Only 24C yesterday with the past couple of days, very windy too. Something's not right when we have a lesser temperature than the UK.

Tuesday 3rd
Above - Another section of road has collapsed at Aetos. Workmen are hard at work to fix it, but as this stretch is usually one of the straights where people like to drive faster than usual, I caution you to drive carefully until the works are completed...and after that too of course. Wednesday 4th - The track from Anoghi down to Kioni.
Thursday 5th - It seems like a really busy season this year. Great for all the businesses and for the visitors.

Above - Last evening at Lizzy's restaurant in Kioni, Olive and the Sardines played for those enjoying dinner on the bayside of the village. Beautifully played music with a traditional edge for dinner music was something quite special for all those having a romantic evening at Lizzy's.
Monday 9th - The Summer entertainment program is finally out. Some of you will be happy to know that Glykeria will be in concert in August, in fact the 1st of August at the Garden Theater of the Vathy High School.
