What's New On Ithaca Greece
January 2017
Wednesday 17th - More rain over the next few days, but also some sunny patches, so that's something at least. The temps have dropped a bit over the past few days, but that's to be expected. It is winter.
Saturday 20th - You can see by the skies, there's more rain and wild weather to come.
Tuesday 23rd - Another very wild and windy day yesterday, and although the sea was completely churned up, the ferry to Patra didn't miss the route for this day, unlike last Thursday when 9 force winds stopped everything. Below - Afales.
Friday 26th - Blue skies again these past couple of days and oh what a difference it makes. The temperatures have plummeted a little though. Can't have everything, although I would hazard a guess we get pretty close on Ithaki.
Below - Stavros views.
Above - Pilikata view to Polis Bay and Kefalonia in the distance.
Above - Kalivia just outside of Stavros in the north of Ithaca.
Sunday 28th - Today at 4.30pm head down to Vathy Square for the beginnings of carnival season. It'll be fun.
Tuesday 30th - Felt like Spring yesterday with birds chirping and almond blossoms on the trees. Below - Anoghi views.

Winter on Ithaca Greece
Friday 17th
Saturday 20th - The weather has really not been on our Ionian island's side so far this winter. High winds on Thursday caused havoc. Keeping ferries docked and raging up the sea.
Tuesday 23rd - It's been a grey, wet winter so far this season, unusually grey in particular. As we head into the coldest month of the season, let's hope for some more sunny and winter blue sky days. The ones we're used to.
Friday 26th - The carnival celebrations begin this Sunday at Vathy Square at 4.30pm. It's still awhile until the big day but there's lots to do in preparation and lots of fun to be had.
Sunday 28th - What a wonderful change after so many grey and rainy days over December and most of January. The sun is shing again.
Tuesday 30th - Sunday beginning of Carnival season had to be postponed due to the funeral of a beloved Ithacan. I don't know when it's to be rescheduled for at this time, but I'll try to find out.
