Above - I tried to get to Frikes as well, but it was so cold in the village, I just headed straight for the sun.
As a tax paying citizen, I am unfortunately still not entitled to vote, so the upcoming elections, are again, out of my reach to have an effect. Still, there's alot of positioning going on, fear tactics, promises, some genuine, some empty. I just hope the Greek people will make the right decision for this country and the people who are mostly suffering in it, because the way things are (NOT) working, can't go on.
The elections are near. Europe waits with bated breath to see how Greece will vote, as this vote could change the game plan for all of Europe. Will Greece's population be able to overcome the fear mongering? Will it vote from the heart or with a heavy head. We'll see.
Personally, I've never understood how we could be governed by the two parties who stole Greece's future along with enough cash to relocate the earth's population to Mars, and why this was not only sanctioned by the EU, but insisted on by the EU.
January 2015 - Thursday 1st - Happy New Year everyone. ithacagreece.com wishes you all a wonderful 2015 with good health and success in your lives. We look forward to another year of bringing news and photographs of Ithaca. 11 years is no small feat, but when something is this enjoyable, it's also very easy. We look foward to your continued support and hope we will give many happy moments to enjoy.
Saturday 3rd - Ok, I'm back from my break so it will be updates as usual from here on, or at least until the next break. It's pretty cold right now on Ithaca, but the sun is shining, and from the forecast, will shine tomorrow and the next day too.
Lots of people getting off the ferry last night, so I'm not the only back from a little break from Ithaki. When living on an island this small, it's for our emotional benefit to escape now and then.
Sunday 4th - Started out a pretty grey and drizzly day, but by late afternoon, the sun began to show itself a little.

On the 6th of this month, Greece celebrates Epiphany with the traditional blessing of the water with the ritual throwing of the cross. The cross is tossed into the water by the local priest and is traditionally retrieved by the young men of the village, although over recent years, the gender discrimmination has not played a role and both young men and women can weather the freezing waters of the Ionian at this time of year, in the hope of retrieving the cross from it's depths.
Tuesday 6th - Epiphany this morning with the cross throwing and retrieving around the baysides of Greece.
It's been some time since I've looked at the visitor statistics of ithacagreece.com and was quite happy to see that 2014 increased it's hits by 7 million from 2013 with a total number of 17 million hits. Now I'd say this is a great achievement, not only for ithacagreece.com, but for Ithaca and it's local and business community.
Left - The new look of shepherding. The shepherd, his flock and his mobile phone.
Very choppy seas yesterday, but the views were spectacularly clear. The wind had quite a bit and chill, enough to make your ears hurt.
A flock of crows spooked from the trees by a vibration.
Epiphany celebrations around Ithaca today, but this year, I didn't make it to Frikes and Kioni, because for the first time ever, there was Epiphany at Polis Bay.

Friday 9th - It's been pretty chilly these past weeks, with evening temps around 3. Guess the long term forecasts of the coldest winter on the books, is beginning to be true, although, it's not cold enough for snow. There's no snow on the mountains across on the mainland either.
Greek elections are the topic of interest around the Greece, and of course Ithaca. Plenty of fear mongering going on.
Tuesday 14th - Can't believe we're already midway through January. Had some very cold weather, but the past few days, the temps have been up again with quite a bit of sunshine to help warm us up.
Friday 16th - Sunny days and unseasonally mild weather for this time of year has me and the chickens out enjoying the sunshine.
There's been alot of clearing of brush in the north of the island, giving us some new views.

Saturday 17th - Beautiful days.
Left - Afales. Below - An actual jetstream. You may notice it dissipates as it should, unlike the chemtrails which do not and spread across the sky instead.
Monday 19th - Some rain again yesterday and most likely today too. Keeping Ithaca green.
Left - I'm sure this pile of dirt on Kioni strip will be gone by the time summer starts, but in the meantime, it's become a playground for the kids.
