July 2014 - Monday 7th - Nothing but blue skies and warm sunny afternoons at the beach and along the baysides. More and more people around every day.
Left - Around Frikes in the north of Ithaca. A traditional little fishing village which turns into a summer hub during the summer season.
Tuesday 8th - Yesterday was the first day that the people in the village squares and on the streets matched the amount of cars parked and the yachts docked. The season may have been slow to start, but there's no doubt that every business will soon be run of their feet, especially the restaurants around the island.
If you're looking for long warm days, then Ithaca is the spot. The weather is just perfect. More than enough sunshine to make up for any bleakness in the north of the continent.

Wednesday 9th - We're cruising along nicely here on Ithaca. What can I say. Albeit it no place is perfect, this little island is pretty close.
Below Left - Yoghurt and fruit at Spavento Cafe Bar in Kioni was a pretty good start to the day.
Left - I don't think the P for parking in Frikes meant parking a gypsey business, but this is Greece, and these road side stalls make up what is so charming about his country.
Thursday 10th - Tonight, Martha Grahams dance group is performing for one night only in Vathy at the Garden Theatre (High School). They were here last year and the show was such a success they've been invited again. If you're not doing anything, I suggest you head on over and be enthralled. It's truly worth it.
Left - Although there are beaches wherever you step, some people just like to swim in a pool, well if you're in the north, the Nostos Hotel in Frikes opens up it's pool and pool bar to the public for a small fee. It's one of the largest pools on the island.
For those stuck at home or in the office, I thought I'd give you a day at the beach, well at least virtually. Polis beach with it's great little cantina and 2 areas for swimming, has always been a popular spot for many, many years, not only with locals, but also with visitors to ithaca. Lucky used to run the umbrellas and sunbeds, but he's handed the baton over to young Taki who has his own charming way to run the beach umbrellas and sunbeds. You can't help but love him!
At Polis you can also hire boats for those trips to beaches that just can't be reached by foot or car. It's also only a short trip to Fiscardo opposite. You never know when the movie stars anchor there. You might just catch a glimpse of someone famous.

If Polis beach just beneath Stavros is too busy for you, you will still be able to find a beach with very few people along the coast. There are many between Stavros and Kioni in the north and in the south you have Filiatro, Loutsa and Sarakiniko around or close to the town and then beautiful little beaches a little outside of the town.
