April 2014 - Saturday 12th - Ok, I'm not a football fan, but when I heard the cheers echoing up from the valley into Stavros and onto my balcony, I thought I better head down to the north Ithacan football ground to take a few pics. Cars were parked right down to the main road, so it was obviously an important home game, but don't ask with whom or what the scores were. I have no idea.
Alot of running around, kicking up gravel and a little ballroom dancing and I headed off to greener pastures.
When the sun is out and the sky is blue, the Spring colours are so vibrant, the beauty can actually blind you. It's hard to concentrate on anything else.
Don't forget tonight is the premier of Forkis Theatre group. If you haven't booked seats, you better get onto it quickly as the set up will be quite different from other performances. For phone number see page 1.
Sunday 13th - I woke this morning to a dripping sound outside my window. It was raining. It's still a little cloudy now, but no more rain so far, just scattered rays of sunshine breaking through the cloud.
Last night Forkis Theatre Group under the direction of Steleios Paris (Kioni's own) presented the play Aristosefanis ta the Cultural center in Vathy. An excellent night with an awesome production. I would say the best that I have personally seen. It was huge and thus deserves a huge spread. 4 pages of photos. Hope you enjoy!

Monday 14th - A beautiful Spring day today, but rather black nights.
Sunsets are always so stunning outside of Stavros to just outside Lefki. All along that strip above the Kefalonia Strait is a magical place to sit and contemplate.
Thursday 17th - It's been a rainy couple of days and the temps have dropped too quite a bit.
Late yesterday afternoon, Spyros Bouas (one of Ithaki's candidates for Mayor) had an open house for his followers and team at the office in Vathy, right next to Porto Restaurant on the bayside, and offered up a big welcome to everyone there, promising that his big priority are the people and their standard of living on the island. I think something we would all agree to. There was also lots of food and drink, and what I liked especially was, that there was no fist banging or loud obnoxious promises that we all know can't be delivered. Down to earth, achievable plans which are every Ithacans right to have.
Before I'm accused of favoritism, I must say Spyros Bouas is on the site because he asked me along. No one else has asked. It's not my obligation to cover the local elections, there are plenty who will do that. It was an opportunity for me to get some faces back on NEW after a long period of just views and also to support my husband, Demetrios Vlassopoulos, who is part of Spyros team.
This Easter week, there are many, many more people on the island. Things are hotting up, not just weather-wise. Yachts are again sailing into Ithaki's baysides and the season is opening up again for another year.
