About us

The blue and white seaside Boat house Lysiponon, in Polis Bay, Ithaca, is situated in a unique setting in front of the sea and among nature that allows one to relax in a harmonious environment.

The house was named Lysiponon about 100 years ago, which means "solving pain." It still remains in many ways in its original style of the past, maintaining its genuine singularity, except for some necessary changes and up to date appliances added. Lysiponon Boat House was recently renovated.

The location is very peaceful at Polis Bay in the morning and in the late afternoon. The sounds of crickets chirping and the waves of the sea add to the tranquility at Lysiponon, along with falling asleep gazing at the stars at night.

The accommodation is composed of two floors. The ground floor has a fully equipped kitchen, open plan sitting and dining area and bathroom with a shower. Upstairs is a bedroom with double bed (accessed by exterior staircase) and outdoor Bathroom/WC. In the bedroom there are 3 large windows facing the sea and a big balcony with a table and chairs to enjoy the magnificent full view of Polis Bay while having breakfast.

The outside area consists of two dining places, one in front of the house with a marble table and two built-in benches that face the pier, where small fishing boats are docked. In the back, another built in bench for sitting and a dining/entertaining area, shaded by intertwining vines for those warm afternoons. Enjoy relaxing and entertaining with views to the bay and the fishing boats docked outside. Enjoy the large barbeque when bbqing is allowed. (There are certain restrictions in the Summer months)

Lysiponon is enclosed by a high fence and stonewalls, some of which were first built 100 years ago. There is ample parking available about 30 meters from the house, as well as a canteen which opens early in the morning and closes at night. At Polis Bay there are two beaches within walking distance from the house and multiple other beaches if one chooses to rent a boat opposite the canteen. Fiskardo in Kefalonia is just across the bay which is about 10 to 15 minutes by boat and there are of course so many pristine beaches around Ithaca that you can also enjoy.

The nearest village is Stavros, 1km from Polis Bay where you can find restaurants, shops, food markets, cafes and a pharmacy. There is also a bus which goes from Kioni to Vathy, the capital of Ithaca, which makes a stop at Stavros.
