| The big draw card is the dance floor, and this year it was bursting at the seams with the rhythmic pulses of an island on a Panighiri roll. Keeping up the community stamina is effort enough, but the Panighiri band, who play non stop until almost dawn for all the Panighiria from June to August, really deserve a big pat on the back. If the Panighiri band doesn't have what it takes, nor does the Panighiri, so a big part of this festivals success is owed to the boys in the band. The community also deserves applause for another great effort in organization and not forgetting the people who attend, there is also a thank you there, because if it wasn't for their enthusiasm to party, we'd all just be watching the Church Service of Panaghias on tv. |

ithacagreece.com dragged itself away at 4am, but there was still 1/3 of the ithaki lcoal and visiting community hanging on until dawn. Another successful Panighiri and the end of the Big Parties for this Season. For a more layed back and traditional Festival, don't forget the Panighiri at Kathara Monastery on the 7th and 8th of September. |
