September 2013 - Not as many people coming and going at the port now, also the larger ferry was replaced with the smaller ferry again, now that the need isn't as great.
Apparently there were some quakes around Poros Kefalonia last night, but I didn't feel a single shake.
Wednesday 11th - Today it was like summer exploded on us again. A second wave of heat and people to go along with it.
It's back to school so the young of Ithaki, during lunch were out in groups, also making the island look alot more inhabited. There were plenty of visitors too. The holiday companies seem to be doing quite well, with most of the accommodations still booked through September.
Left - When the skies are blue and the sun is shining, Perahori in the south of Ithaca, has some of the best views you're likely to see on the island. It has a very eco-friendly attitude too, and very friendly inhabitants, always ready to help with a smile. This village may not be on the beach route, but it offers a great deal of satisfaction when coming for a holiday on Ithaca.
It's a great time to be on the island. It's not too crowded, the nights are pleasant and the days are warm. If you were worried that the weather may be too cold for swimming in September, you need not even think about it. It's just perfect right now. Even I feel like going on a holiday on Ithaca. A little package with alot of paradise.
Friday 13th - Yesterday was another strange weather day, with a hint of rain on the horizon and flashes of lightning in the distance as we headed toward nightfall, but nothing on Ithaca.
Although there are quiet periods during the day, early morning and late afternoon, the island wakes up with yachters and travelers taking to the streets, preparing for the days and nights.
Last night the sky turned orange with grades of cloud cover that seemed quite eerie.
Some light rain overnight, nothing dramatic. I didn't even hear it, just woke up to a wet terrace and a dark sky, but the sun came out again in the morning for another summer day. The cafe chairs may be a bit damp for the first part of the day, but nothing else has changed. Summer continues.
