Thursday 4th - So there was some rain yesterday, mostly during the night, but it basically cleared up by midday and although the skies were cloudy, it was actually quite mild. Can't tell you much about what's going on around the island as I've been busy trying to be a techy, learning new programmes that I've had to upgrade to, to use my new system. Left brain versus right brain. Not what I would normally entertain myself with. Slowly getting the hang of things so I'll be out again trying to drum up some news tomorrow. I doubt there's much to tell. The season is ending and once the summer weather disappears, so will the people as they begin to get themselves ready for the winter.
Forkis is going to be starting the Cinema in Vathy again very soon. They are appealing to locals not just to be customers, but become members.

October 2012 - Monday 1st - We're all a bit confused. The weather is better than it was in the height of summer, yet it's nearly time to prepare for the olive harvest. Perfect weather days. Perfect for swimming, perfect for being outdoors.
Some business owners have commented that September was better than August in many respects. With most thinking it would be down, it was actually up.
It appears that Ithaca can now be automomous in regard to EU fund plans as it has now acquired its managerial competence and will no longer have to look elsewhere, Kefalonia for instance, to be an intermediary. The competency means expert book keeping and a double entry system, which has been a huge task for the municipality. This could be an excellent opportunity to do great, not just good, things for Ithaki.
There is talk of a Marine Park at Marmakas from the City Council. The estimated cost is between 10 - 20,000 euro. The Marine park will prohibit fishing in the area, but is proposed to be a worthwhile tourist attraction, a fishing hatchery and place for students to learn.
Tuesday 2nd - The weather chart shows that we're going to get some rain over our area tomorrow morning. The temperatures, still high however, 30C.
Unfortunately no Marida Festival for ithacagreece.com yesterday. Instead of enjoying the usually great morning down at Polis beach, I was in bed with a migraine. Sorry folks :(
Wednesday 3rd - So no rain yesterday, but today the skies will be cloudy for most of the day. At this time of year, one would expect some rain, but not today if the weather forecast is correct. It is October, regardless of the summertime we've been experiencing.
Some Flotilla companies have apparently dropped their prices to almost half, so we're looking at a full few weeks until end of October, when the flotillas stop.
Ryan air has also dropped its price from Kefalonia to Pisa or Milano. Now only 9.90 euro. A bargain!!
The Mayor of ithaca, Mr. Kassianos and his wife, have been visiting Italy, Santa Marinella more specifically, as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. The Mayor of Santa Marinella had organized a sightseeing tour and some fun for Mr. & Mrs. Kassianos' entertainment. If you want official news from the municipality, you can visit www.ithaki.gr. It's the Ithaki's Council website.

Friday 5th - A very quiet day around the island. As we head toward the weekend, the Flotilla traffic thins, without Flotilla traffic, tourism is almost non existent.
