GOOD FRIDAY RESURRECTION CELEBRATION EASTER SUNDAY
This Easter I thought I'd change it around a bit and instead of trying to get to as many services as possible, settled on one I had never been to before. The service and celebration of the resurrection in Exoghi. When I got to Ag. Marina church, the lights were off and I thought we were way too early. People passed and I waited in the car until the church lights lit, but they didn't, so decided to head further up the hill incase I got the church wrong. As it happened, I did. This year's celebration was at the little chapel a little further up in Exoghi due to Ag. Marina church sustaining some damage through our long weeks of earthquakes and tremors. The community was not comfortable that it would be safe enough, so the location was changed.
I've been to so many of these services I had become quite blaze, but this one really got me. It was a terrific location and the atmosphere was traditional and charged with a certain electricity. Very, very special. Stavros' new priest, whose domain is also Exoghi, Papas Christos Lykouresis, has the most beautiful singing voice and an charismatic energy that captured everyone who attended. I will say, as will others who attended the Celebration of the Resurrection in Exoghi, that this was one of the most special services attended in many, many years. For me, that's saying alot. I'm not orthodox or that religious, but I was captured in the spirit of the service and my surroundings like a real local. Xristos Anesti. Happy Easter everyone!!
