Alexandra has been a Stavros local for the past 17 years. She was born in Agrynio on the mainland, a city almost opposite Ithaki. Alexandra, like many from the mainland would come to Ithaca for the olive picking and return home with olive oil, a produce lacking in her area, except that Alexandra met a man called Maki, married him and has lived here ever since. Alexandra and Maki own and run Petra Restaurant and the Butchers' shop, next to the park in Stavros. The restaurant serves up fresh meat direct from their herds. This family continues the shepherds traditions and Alexandra now cooks up what the family produces. |
