Unification Parade celebrating the unification of the Ionian Islands. Ithaca Greece summer 2018

Ithaca celebrates the anniversary of the Unification of the Ionian Islands with an annual parade in which the school children of the island march in a parade and notaries and special speakers relay their thoughts on this historic day for Ithaca.

It was surprisingly low key this year considering the weather was perfect with blue sky and sunshine. Locals and curious visitors lined the main street of Vathy to watch the parade pass and listen to the philharmonic orchestra play.
