Anoghi Panighiri 2018 - Summer Festival on Ithaca Greece

Before we even got near Anoghi, we could tell it was going to be a huge night by the line of cars parked 7 minutes walk out of Anoghi center. The cars don't lie. Anoghi was brimming across the boundaries with such good cheer (KEFI) that it was impossible to not get caught up in all the fun of it. This, more than any other festival, brings people from south and north, visitors and locals together in one big celebration. Must also mention, the souvlakia were fantastic again.

Mnistires need congratulating again, for keeping the crowds on the dance floor from beginning to end. This is no usual band. They play for literally hours and hours without a break, panighiri after panighiri. Behind the scenes, there is also Spiros with the help of son George, they bring you the sound of joy which carries through the village and the lights to illuminate the band stand. Incase that is too crytic. I'm talking about the sound engineer. Always unsung, except for today!
