Ag. Nikolas Day Tuesday 10th May 2016

A brilliant weather day for Ag. Nikolas festival at Mavrona this year. Blue skies and sunshine to celebrate this chapel at the water's edge. It's always a lovely day with plenty, and I mean plenty, of food.

The celebrations start with a liturgy and then a big feast  of pork on the spit. This year Papas Babbis was stuck on the Mainland due to the ferry strike, but the Papas from Stavros filled in for him without difficulty.

This year's attendance was a little down in comparison to other years, but the faithful old locals all turned up to enjoy the ritual of this day.

Ag. Nikolas chapel gets a healthy injection of funds with this festival, keeping the chapel and the chapel grounds maintained and cared for.
