what comes in-between is a great opening night for gefyri restaurant and café. gefyri owners andy and mark, humbly expected a few invited friends, but to their surprise, locals from far and wide came to celebrate this event with them.  platrithia is again alive with the sounds of community and greek music. complimentary wine, beer and snacks delighted everyone of course, and to see locals accustomed to their stuffed tomatoes and port souvlaki, eat chicken skewers with peanut sauce, gave the owners great confidence that their eclectic fare will serve them well in platrithia.  many were already planning their breakfasts lunches and dinners at gefyri, once the full menu is on offer on monday. there isn't a person living on Ithaki that doesn't know the tale of gefyri and its' year long struggle to open, so when so very many turned up for the opening, it was a great show of approval from the community which wished andy and mark a successful future for the restaurant.
