Traditionally Ephiphany notes the blessing of the waters around Greece. Blessing the fisherman and plentiful catches. Usually the young men of the villages vie for the retrieval of the cross which is tossed into the sea by the local priests.
This year, in the north of the island at least, no young men turned up ready to dive into the very chilly waters of Kioni Bay and Frikes Bay. Irregardless, locals came out of their homes to take part in this annual religious ceremony.
