Tsiknopempti on Ithaca Greece. Pre-Greek Easter celebrations

Tsiknopempti gets the locals out like few other celebrations, but this day of Burnt Thursday is the last opportunity until Easter Sunday to eat up big in the carnivorous way. The smell of souvlaki and other locals meats wafted around the island from Vathy to Kioni.

With such a cold and wet winter, the locals had a real enthusiasm about them for this Pre-Greek Easter celebration. It's great to get together with everyone again, out in the open, in nature and around the villages.
