Tsiknopempti is the last big carnivorous feast before the beginning of Lent for Greek Easter. We started in Vathy and ended in Kioni, where the coal and wood fires roasted and grilled continuously until people had their fill of meat.
The day was glorious. Endless blue skies with not a cloud to be seen and with lots of warm sunshine that had everyone convinced that Spring had come early this year. The temperature was mild and the kefki (good cheer) was very high.
Once school finished, the Vathy Square began to fill very quickly.
With all the signs of the impending carnival, wherever you look.
