For the Resurrection Liturgy, local communities attend their neighbourhood churches. At midnight all the lights go off and one by one, candles are lit, signifying the resurrection of Christ. Ithacans attempt to bring the candle light back to their homes wind, rain or shine.
At the conclusion of the church service, Papas Babbis gives his church community his Easter Blessing and each member of the congregation gets an egg, dyed in the traditional red dye.
